MELMAC Program

JMG and the MELMAC Education Foundation have collaborated to partner with Maine high schools to provide support to students on a school-wide basis to identify their aspirations for life after high school and then connect those aspirations to a post-secondary plan.

The MELMAC and JMG partnership is offered at Brewer High School, Windham High School, and Winslow High School. At each school, a MELMAC College and Career Specialist works with all students to empower them to make informed decisions about their career and educational plans and prepares students for a successful transition to college and post-secondary training and education experiences.

The program improves the ability of Maine students to better understand and realize options for continuing education after high school and increases college enrollment.

The Specialist guides students in the exploration of post-secondary opportunities and shows them how to navigate the financial aid process to pursue these opportunities.

Students are also provided with a variety of pathways and training opportunities to pursue their careers, resulting in the student earning a credential of value by completing a program of study at a community college or university, an apprenticeship program, or other industry-recognized training.

The program continues to support students by helping them navigate the transition to college, with the goal of increasing college graduation rates and increasing student retention at Maine post-secondary institutions.
