Pre-Apprenticeship: MaineHealth Clinical Healthcare Careers
MaineHealth’s Clinical Healthcare Career Awareness Pre-Apprenticeship is designed for anyone who wishes to further explore a career in clinical healthcare and seeks a guided pathway to potential employment with MaineHealth. This program is delivered in conjunction with JMG, Southern Maine Community College (SMCC), and is funded through a grant from the Maine Department of Labor Maine Apprenticeship Program. After successful completion of the program, pre-apprentices who meet all the hiring requirements will be offered an interview for a clinical training program at MaineHealth.
Pre-Apprenticeship Highlights:
Unpaid, free training program
Open to non-employees and MaineHealth employees
Self-paced, online, and virtual course modules

Certified Nursing Assistant
Covers concepts like medical terminology, patient care, workplace communication, public health, study skills, and more
Pre-apprentices will engage in career interest assessment work and receive information on clinical and non-clinical pathways in line with their career goals and interests

Junior Volunteer Program
The Maine Medical Center Junior Volunteers program is a year-round program that offers the opportunity for students ages 14-17 to volunteer in a variety of capacities within the hospital setting. Students aged 18+ are accepted into the Maine Medical Center volunteer program as adults
